A time out was completed, verifying correct patient, procedure, site, positioning, and equipment. Signed consent in the chart. The patient’s area of pain was palpated and the maximal point of muscle tenderness was located. 2mL of 0.5% bupivacane was injected just under the skin. The needle was advanced into the belly of the muscle(s) under constant aspiration and under ultrasound guidance to avoid deeper structures. [8]mL of anesthetic was deposited in a fanning motion. After anesthetic was deposited, dry needling was performed by repeatedly inserting and removing the needle in a fanning motion throughout the belly of the muscle(s) in the area of pain. A total of [1] muscle(s) were injected. The patient reported almost immediate improvement in their pain. The patient tolerated the procedure well. The patient was counseled on the signs/symptoms of LAST.
