Consent was obtained prior to the procedure. The patient’s penile shaft was cleansed with chlorhexidine. A dorsal penile block was performed by entering the skin at both the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock positions of the dorsal penis and advancing medially. 2.5cc of 1% lidocaine was injected along these tracts. Once the penis was adequately anesthetized, a small wheal of 1% lidocaine was injected superficially along the lateral shaft of both sides of the penis over the corpus cavernosum. Using an 18ga needles, the corpus was entered on both sides of the penis and dark blood was aspirated. Approximately [15]ml from the left and [15]ml from the right. At this point, 250mcg phenylephrine was injected into both cavernosa. Detumescence occurred almost immediately. The patient tolerated the procedure well and there were no complications.
