Negative

ED Bedside Ultrasound – E-FAST
Date/Time: []
Indication: Trauma
Provider: Self
Using the phased array probe, the RUQ, LUQ, bladder, heart, and pleura were evaluated in real time in a limited manner in the setting of rapid evaluation in trauma. There was no visualized free fluid in the abdomen, no pericardial effusion, and lung sliding was seen bilaterally. More specific evaluations of the cardiac function and abdominal organs were not performed in this limited exam. My interpretation is that this represents a negative study for intraperitoneal fluid, pericardial effusion/injury, and pneumothorax in the setting of trauma.

Charting Tips

  • Be aware this note sf for an Extended FAST(EFAST) which includes evaluation of the lung parenchyma to evaluate for pneumothorax in addition to the standard FAST evaluation. Edit as needed for your practice patterns.
  • “Normal” findings are included for the abnormal note in square brackets so you can simply go to the next field until you need to edit the abnormal finding. See the video tutorial on setting up and using dictation efficiently if needed.
