Indication: Thrombosed external hemorrhoid

Signed consent was obtained and placed on the chart. The patient was placed in the lateral decubitus position. Positioning was optimized for the best view of the thrombosed hemorrhoid.  The area was cleansed with chlorhexidine.  The surface of the hemorrhoid was anesthetized with 2mL of 1% lidocaine with epinephrine. A 1cm eliptical incision was made into the hemorrhoid using an 11 blade scalpal. The hemorrhoid was evacuated of clot. Bleeding was controlled and gauze was placed in the patient’s gluteal cleft. There were no complications. The patient tolerated the procedure well
