Verbal consent was obtained. Using ultrasound, the largest area of fluid was identified and marked. The area was cleansed with Betadine. Local anesthesia was obtained using [5]mL of 1% lidocaine. Using an 11 blade scalpel, a 1cm skin incision was made down through the outer portion of the abscess. [Purulent/bloody] material immediately drained out. The wound was manually decompressed. Using curved forceps, loculations were decompressed. Wound culture was obtained and sent to lab. [The wound was packed with iodoform gauze]. There were no complications.
